Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) is a framework used to assess a company's impact on the planet and people. ESG highlights sustainability and provides businesses with an opportunity to showcase their beneficial practices. The main tenants of ESG are often decarbonization, resiliency, health and wellbeing, and diversity. In the pharmaceutical industry, ESG focuses on public health innovation, clinical trial safety, and ethics.
At MEYA Health, Our ESG Commitment Goes Beyond Compliance
MEYA Health's ESG initiatives are guided by four interconnected pillars: empowering people, protecting the planet, engaging communities, and driving responsible business. These aren't aspirational talking points — they are principles embedded in how we operate every day.

Empowering People
We believe a thriving organization starts with a thriving team. MEYA Health is a woman- and minority-owned business where nearly half our team is made up of working mothers, reflecting our commitment to building a workplace where people with diverse responsibilities can succeed. We support flexible work arrangements, encourage meaningful time off and foster continuous learning through free course resources, an ESG advisory board, curated webinars, and regular educational lunch and learn sessions. The result: 100% of our team reports feeling supported in maintaining a healthy work-life integration. We extend this ethos outward as well, having invested nearly $1 million in partnerships with small, woman- and minority-owned businesses since our inception.
Protecting the Planet
Environmental responsibility is a shared value across our organization. Our remote-first model means 98% of meetings are held virtually, helping us avoid approximately 47 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually through reduced commuting. Team members make intentional environmental choices daily, from carpooling and walking to composting and going paperless. These efforts have earned us the Bronze EcoVadis sustainability award, evaluating MEYA Health within the top 35% of companies, demonstrating our established sustainability practices and policies.
Engaging Communities
We show up for the communities we serve. MEYA Health has provided over 200 hours of pro bono support to public health startups and nonprofits focused on maternal health, health equity, and expanding access to care. Team members are encouraged to use paid volunteer hours to support local food drives, soup kitchens, and hunger relief programs. Internally, our "Healthy Hacks" channel keeps the team connected around wellness through shared recipes, nutrition tips, and strategies for balanced living. Driving Responsible Business
As a certified Woman-Owned, Minority-Owned Small Disadvantaged Business, equity is a core operating principle at MEYA Health, not a marketing angle. We maintain full transparency with clients on data handling, project timelines, and budget utilization; a commitment reflected in our 100% client satisfaction rate in 2024.
Why ESG is Important for Market Access
ESG has become a material consideration in healthcare market access because payers and HTA bodies are increasingly evaluating manufacturers on dimensions beyond clinical efficacy alone. Health equity efforts are now directly linked to funding eligibility under public and private reimbursement models. This means that companies demonstrating inclusive trial design, equitable pricing and community health investments are better positioned in coverage negotiations.
Strong ESG performance can also unlock tangible financial benefits, including lower borrowing rates. Experts predict that ESG scoring will become a factor in future Medicare payments. From a governance standpoint, increased transparency around pricing components and reimbursement criteria is being actively advocated across healthcare systems and companies with robust compliance frameworks are better equipped to meet this expectation. As payers and health technology assessors consolidate their role as gatekeepers to market access, manufacturers must communicate multifaceted product value across a range of stakeholders with distinct needs, making ESG credentials an increasingly important part of the value narrative alongside traditional outcomes data.
Ready to Lead?
MEYA Health partners with healthcare innovators to build market access strategies and payer engagement frameworks that hold up in a transparent pricing environment — whether your patient arrives through a formulary, a federal portal, or a coupon on their phone.
We help you answer the questions that today's market access landscape has made unavoidable:
- Is your value narrative compelling beyond clinical efficacy, and does it speak to the broader criteria that payers and HTA bodies are increasingly scrutinizing?
- Are your payer relationships built on the kind of pricing transparency and accountability that modern reimbursement frameworks demand?
- Does your market access strategy reflect the access, equity, and governance commitments that are becoming central to coverage and reimbursement decisions?
Payer expectations are evolving, reimbursement benchmarks are shifting, and what "value" means to a health system today looks very different from five years ago. The manufacturers who get ahead of this won't just be compliant — they'll be trusted.
The market access space is moving fast and the right answers aren't obvious yet — but that's exactly what we're here for. Schedule a one-on-one with our team today and let's figure out what this means for your strategy.
